Chateaux Haut Madrac Rouge 2013
Haut Medoc, Bordeaux

You might think Bordeaux is for crusty old snobs and Masters of the Universe with property portfolios in Point Piper? You’d be right; crusty old snobs and investment bankers love Bordeaux!

However you can get your hands on some excellent wine from this great region for less than $25. At a recent T+O+M Wine Tasting the keenly priced Chateau Haut Madrac was rated the best wine of the night so take heart!

The Haut Madrac is a 70:30 Cabernet Merlot blend Cru Bourgeois from Bordeaux. It’s the second label of the prestigious Château Lynch Moussas. Haut Madrac has a smooth full bodied flavour with a good tannic coating through the mid and back palate.

The tobacco leaf smell is followed through in the mouth. If you like Coonawara and Margaret River cabernet you’ll thrive on this.

Did someone say Father’s Day is coming?

A Power Drill? Get that away from me.

Novelty socks? If you must.

The Haut Medrac? Now you’re talkin!

Available from Dan Murphy’s. Price c. $23. Rating: 4/5. Drink and be merry!
